BETTER SERVICE WANTED ON TRAMS
TICKET-ISSUE METHODS Mr. W. Skegg told Remuera East ratepayers last evening that an extension on the Remuera line was going to cost them another penny. It was absolutely time they had a universal transferable ticket. Mr. J. A. C. Allum had said a transferable ticket was not even mooted. Mr. D. Lundon said Wellington could issue tickets for any length of single ride for 3d, and could make a profit on it. Methods were entirely different, and, on a comparison, greatly to the disadvantage of Auckland. There one could buy either a 3s twelve-ride concession ticket to go anywhere, or a one-section card, from the conductors. Here one had to hunt the town for concession tickets, and, if one was slow in running the tickets out, he had to get a refund at the tramways office —after finding it.
