BEEF DECIDEDLY EASIER FAT PIGS FIRMER E3eef was decidedly easier at Westfield yesterday. Sheep and calres were slightly easier; fat pigs wars firmer, while the market for slerst remained unchanged. One of the heaviest yardings of beef seem for some weeks came forward and it was well on toward 3 o’clock befwe a start could be made on the sheeo. The greater portion of the offering came oft Waikato pastures. The market throughout was er.itJc, arid though many well-finished lines wert offered, prices were from par to 30s below those of late sales. A heavy yarding of calves saw the market open firm at late rates, to fall nwiy slightly toward the close. The majority of the offering were small and freshdropped calves. Several pens of vrell-finished, bigfra.med sheep came forward, but tba grtjater portion was light and only partlaly finished, mary being little better than forward stores. Several jens of prime shorn wethers met with keen competition up to 29s 6d. Big-framed heavy wool led wethers made to 42s other prim* wethers made from 37s to 39s 6d; unfinished and small wethers made from 26s to 335. Spring lambs were keenly sought after up to 38s for a special prime Suffolkcross lamb Other lambs made from Jh upwards. The offering of fat Tigs was quit* tosufficient for buyers’ reqj rements.
