HIS MAJESTY’S
“LA MASCOTTE” Another good attendance at His Majesty’s Theatre last night testified to the excellence of the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society’s presentation of “La Mascotte.” Right from the opening chorus to the Anal curtain there is humour and entertainment, and this latest production is the finest yet submitted by the society Miss Beryl Poulton, who makes her debut among the principals, impressed with her delightful portrayal of Frametta, giving a finished and wholly charming account of herself. Miss Eva Simaon, as La Mascotte, is admirably cast and makes a sweet and captivating farmer s lass. Her vocal numbers were decidedly we.l sung. Mr. Ernest Snell, Mr. Dan Flood, Mr. Lyttelton and Mr. Birrell O’Malley fill the major roles with distinction, Mr. Flood being exceptionally good as Laurent. The chorus is splendid and adds a great deal to the success of the production. The orchestra, under Mr. Colin Muston, is responsible for some excellent work.
