THE NEW REGENT
LAST NIGHT OF “TELEPHONE GIRL” Herbert Brenon’s latest Paramount masterpiece, “The Telephone Girl,” will be screened for the last time at the New Regent Theatre this evening. Madge Bellamy, May Allison, Holbrook Blinn, Warner Baxter and Lawrence Gray have the leading roles in what is undoubtedly one of the most striking dramas screened in Auckland for a long time. The story concerns a battle of politics in which a little telephone girl saves a woman’s name and a man’s honour against tremendous odds. Colin Crane, the eminent baritone of J. C. Williamson’s Celebrity Vaudeville, will be farewelled at the Regent this evening, after having appeared with great success throughout the week. Eddie El or ton’s numbers at the Mighty Wurlitzer include “At Sundown,” and a special musical programme, including the overture “Romaintique” (Keler Bela) is played by the New Operatic orchestra under the baton of Maurice Guttridge.
