FRANKLIN LAWN TENNIS CLUB

A SUCCESSFUL SEASON The annual meeting of the Franklin Lawn Tennis Club was held at Buckland on Friday, Mr. A. Park Horne presiding. The financial statement revealed a credit balance of £2O 14s 4d, while the report indicated that a prosperous season had been concluded, both the A and B grade competitions being won by the Pukekohe Central Club. Officers elected were:—Patron, Mr. W. J. Taylor; president, Mr. A. Park Horne; vice-presidents, Messrs. L. J. Bayly, W. J. A. Moore and C. A. Care; secretary, Mr. R. N. Johnson; auditor, Mr. R. Phillips; sole selector, Mr. M. S. Campbell; zone selectors, Messrs. R. N. Johnson (Group I.), L. J. Bayly (Group II.), and Willis (Group III.). The Waiuku Club was granted affiliation. It was decided to commence the competitions on November 5, entries for the first of the two rounds to close on October 1. The Park Horne and the MooreSchlaepfer Shields are to be presented to the Pukekohe Central A and B teams, respectively, at a social to be held on October 10. It was resolved to allow reasonable travelling expenses to members of representative teams. A special meeting is to be held early in February to consider a notice of motion that the association hold singles and double championships in conjunction with the Pukekohe Central Club’s Easter tournament.
