MR. McMAHON’S APPOINTMENT CHAIRMAN OF A.J.C. STEWARDS By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright SYDNEY, Wednesday. The committee of the Australian Jockey Club has appointed Mr. J. McMahon chairman of the stipendiary stewards of the metropolitan area in succession to Mr. J. Higgins, resigned. Two other stewards, Messrs. F. \v. Coombes and L. Fraser, have been appointed, also two for the Newcastle area. Mr. McMahon was chief stipendiary steward under the New Zealand Racing Conference. Mr. Coombes formerly acted as steward in New South Wales. Mr. McMahon's salary is £I,OOO per annum and the other two stewards will each receive £ 800.
