R. | State elections show that the Government Party and the Fianna Fail conj tinue to increase their representation at the expense of the smaller parties. All the Ministers have been returned. There is much speculation as to the constitution of the Government that will be formed, but the position will probably remain uncertain until the Dail meets. The losses of the smaller parties is regarded as a curious commentary on the working of the proportional representation system of voting, which was specially introduced into the Free State constitution to safeguard the political interests of minorities. Questioned regarding the possibility of an alliance with Labour and the National League Party, Mr. De Valera said that as such an alliance had not existed before the election, it was not likely to do so now. —A. and N.Z.
