Seamen Modify Demands
AUSTRALIAN LOG BASIS OF PRESENT AGREEMENT By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. Noon. MELBOURNE, To-day. The Federal Management Committee of the Seamen’s Union has modified the demands contained in the log submitted. Members of the union adopted a proposal that the committee should agree to negotiate with the employers on a basis of the existing agreement, but on condition that there should be no reduction in wages.—A. and N.Z.
The Seamen’s Union served a demand on the interstate ship owners for a new log in which they claimed, inter alia,, an increase oir £5 a month in wages, three weeks’ annual leave on full pay, and a 44 hours’ working week.
