MANY BY-LAW BREAKERS FINED
INSPECTORS ACTIVE V BIG list of by-law offences was speedily disposed of by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M.. in the Traffic Court this morning. The traffic department under Chief Inspector G. R. Hogan has been particularly vigilant on the lookout for speeders. For leaving cars unattended the following were fined 10s and costs: J. G. Staunton, R. Cornish, Paul Cropper, W. Gash, J. Butland, H. W. Cooke, C. Stephens, S. A. Bull, L. Bourdot, P. C. Mar setts, Alex Smith, J. F. Bell, L. Peacock and R. Riffkin.
X*. Meill’s' penalty was 10s without costs.
James Langton failed to provide a chain for the wheel of his cart. The omission cost him 1-Os and costs.
Melville Schmidt permitted pillionriding—los and costs.
J. Reilly was relieved of £ 2 and costs for using old timber in a new house without a certificate.
Shepherd omitted to apply to the Manukau County Council for permission to remove part of a building. His penalty totalled £3 11s.
VV. Wong Kee had allowed decayed vegetables to accumulate. A fine of £3 and costs was inflicted.
The Mount Roskill Road Board prosecuted Andrew and Andrew for loading a lorry licensed to carry nine tons -with eleven tons of cement. The fine was £5 and costs amounted to £2 Is 6<L The driver of the vehicle, L. Greenwood, had to pay 11s costs. DANGEROUS DRIVING
Fines of £ 1 and costs for dangerous driving were imposed on Charles Clare, Charles La Roche, Alan Kay, Howard Gaudm, Roy A. Jordan. George Crocombe, John R. Smith and John H. Mansell were fined £2 and costs for similar offences.
On a rehearing a charge against Arthur Porter, who was fined last week foir dangerous driving, was dismissed, the defendant to pay £1 witness’s expenses. _ Dr. Hilda Northcroft and W A. POLICE PROSECUTIONS 40 f or speeding, F. Flanagan was fined For failing to produce a driver’s licence. William Bodley was fined 10s and A. Hill 20s. For failure to notify change of ownership, G. F. Chrippes and R. c. Flay were each fined £l. For leaving cars unattended in Queen Street, the following were each fined 10s: R. Garett, Leslie Peacock, H. G. Sayers. Mania Watkins and R. 90= WOrley ' P ” T ‘ Sheppard was fined For failing to have motors lighted, S. Hayes and Doris Vaile were each fined 40s. N. M. Louisson was fined 10s.
