MAORI CLERGY MEET IN AUCKLAND

METHODIST SYNOD SESSIONS MAORI adherents of the Metho--LV.L di s t Church, a body which established one of the first missions in New Zealand, are meeting in Auckland to-day. The purpose of the visit is to attend the Native Synod for the Auckland and Taranaki districts. The Rev. R. Taupotiki Haddon, senior superintendent of the Maori Mission„ who is stationed in Taranaki, prej sided at to-day’s sessions. About 50 Maori clerical and lay representatives are attending the synod. Another meeting will be held to-mor-row. The synod will conclude on Friday. To-night a Maori demonstration is being held in the Town Hall. Mr. Haddon will speak. Welcoming the delegates last night, the Rev. S. J. Seamer, general superintendent of home missions, said he believed that the synod, under the able guidance of Mr. Haddon, would be productive of much good. Among those attending are the Revs. Hon Kakuere (Waikato), Te Aho Pihama (Raglan), Matene Keep a (Te Kuiti), Aihe Huirama (Marokopa), Hauotu Hapimana (Aotearca), Hone Taotahi (Wanganui River), Rajcena P. Rakena (Rahotu), Matarae Tauroa (Okaiawa), Eruera Te Tuhi (Kaipara), Pou Werekake (Rawene), Hone Tamati (Whangaroa). Oriwa Haddon (Bay of Islands), Hlra Ratete (Punakite), Hospital Matron, Rangihenia. Deaconess, Sister Alice (Taranaki), Sister Gittos (King Country), Sister Eleanor (Hokianga), Sister Nicholls (Waikato).
