SIX LITTLE EMUS HATCHED AT THE ZOO

''pHEERE are no prouder birds at the Auckland Zoo to-day than Mr. and Mrs. Emu. They are now hhe proud parents of six little ’mus, with the hope of more to follow. Both Mr, and Mrs. Emu have been busy keeping the eggs warm for the last 50 days. Yesterday afternoon the first chick pecked its way through the shell and struggled out into the daylight. Since then the chicks have been popping out at intervals. There are still several eggs unhatched, but Mr. T. Aldridge, superintendent of the zoo, hopes that the rest of the eggs will be fertile., Thisr is the second hatching at the zoo. Last year two emus were hatched. They are now healthy-looking birds, almost as big as their parents.
