SIR JOHN McWHAE DEAD
VICTORIAN AGENT-GENERAL By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright MELBOURNE, To-day. 'The daath has occurred of Sir John Me What-, formerly Victorian AgentGeneral in London. —A. and N.Z. The Hon. Sir John McWhae was born in Ballarat in 185 S, of Scottish parents. He was educated at Dumfries Academy anc! the Ballarat Grammar School. He stated 1 fe in the Union Bank of Austra ia, aid was afterwards a member of he Ballarat and Melbourne Stock Exchanges, being the chairman of the Melbourne Exchange for six years. He was connected with pastoral properties in Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales, and In the Amalgamated Dry Docks. Melbourne. He was Agent-Gen-eral for Victoria in London from 1922 to 1921, and was created a knight. He had been member for Melbourne City in the Legislative Council of Victoria from 1909 to 1922. Minister of Public Works. Bowser Administration; member of the Executive Council of Victoria; and honorary member in the Lawson administration.
