OFFICIAL QUOTATIONS Under date September 17, the High Commissioner for New Zealand stationed in London cabled as follows: Tallow.—Spot market firm. Present quotations are:—Mutton, fine, 37s 9d a cwt; fair to good, 34s 6d to 36s 3d; dark to dull, 32s 6d to 33s 6d. Beef:—Sweet and/or mixed, 36s 6d to 40s; fair to good, 34s to 365; dark to dull, 32s to 335. Mixed:—Fair to good, 34s 6d to 36s 6d; dark to dull, 30s 6d to 32s 6d. Gut, etc.: —29 s to 32s 6d.
Eggs. —Market quiet. Present quotations are:—English, 18s 6d to 20s a long 100; Dutch, Danish and French, 16s 6d to ISs; Esthonian and Belgian, 14s to 16s 6d; Russian, Lithuanian and Polish, 9s to 13s Cd.
Wool.—Sales continue well attended and opening rates fully maintained. Home trade actively buying New Zealand crossbred.
Hemp.—The Manila market is quiet and a little easier. “J” grade October-De-cember shipments quoted £43 value. Sisal market quiet and steady. Tanganyika No. 1, October-December shipments, quoted £37 10s, and No. 2 £36 10s. New Zealand market quiet and values unchanged.
