WILL OPPOSE LANG
IN OWN ELECTORATE N.S.W. LABOUR STRIFE Mr. Minahan, M.LA., has announced that he would carry the war into the N.S.W Premier’s electorate at Auburn, and himself oppose Mr. Lang. Mr. Minahan said that, he left the Labour movement becausa it was row controlled by extremists and Communists, whose power, through a Government, would be disastrous to the rights and sacred principles of the people of New South Wales. “The tax on industry that was forced through caucus by Mr. Lang.” added Mr. Minahan, “is already partly ruining industry, but if it be increased there will be a genera! smasa-np. causing thousands to be thrown cut of employment. “I appeal to electors of all shades of .political beliefs to support me in protecting the people from the curse of Communism that has Just wrecked the Labour movement, fully proved by recent happenings.” Five in ir ield
Candidates now running under the rules of the old Labour Party are:
Ex-Minister for Education Mutch, ex-Minister of Health Cann, Dr. EvatL C. Murphy, and P. J. Minahan, M.L-A.'s Mr. Minahan has been a member of Parliament for 14 years.
During the last session he put up a strenuous fight in Caucus for a minimum basic wage of £5 a week, to <lo away with the tax on industry to finance the Family Endowment Act.
