When lined up at the barrier on the course proper at Ellerslie this morning with ether two-year-olds Valour received a severe kick and was decidedly sore on returning to the scraping sheds. It is to be hoped that the injury that the Valkyrian filly sustained will not prove serious, for she had been going smoothly in her work and it was anticipated that good prospects were in store for her. PULLED UP LAME Thursby was very sore after galloping in company with War Officer this morning, but it is anticipated that there is nothing seriously wrong with r. e. Brown’s charge and he.should be himself in a day or so.
Though Vice Versa had been galloping well on the tracks at Ellerslie those who noticed him moving along this morning would not be inclined to wager on his future chances for he showed distinct signs of soreness. Vice Versa has not been over-sound and when the tracks become hard it would not be a surprise to see the hurdler going amiss.
