CARS SMASHED

NORTH ROAD COLLISION Nine passengers in cars which collided in Great North*’Road yesterday had lucky escapes, the only injury being a above the eye received by a boy. At 6.15 p.m. a five-seater car driven by Mr. El. B. Hill, of Williamson Avenue,, Grey Lynn, was about to turn into Beaconsfield Street from the Great North Road, when a two-seater driven by Mr. A. H. Gillies, of Parnell, crashed into the bonnet of the first car, which came to rest against one of the electric wire poles. The five-seater was extensively damaged on the bonnet, and the front wheels were crumpled.

Ellectric Cable Fuses. —Shortly before 7 o’clock last evening an electric cable at the corner of Shortland and O’Connell Streets fused. Bittle damage was done.
