Parliament Still Has Much to Do
CONTENTIOUS MEASURES SITTING TILL NOVEMBER I THE SPY’S Parliamr;:(orv E-'port WELLINGTON, Todtr •pHE legislative programme f op . the coming week a f p.„. liament probably will embrace quite a number of contentious Bills, and endeavours will be made by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Cortes, te jet through as much as possible of what lies on the order paper at the present time. Mr. Coates has intimated that the Government business will be pushed I forward as far as it is possible to so I this week, he doubtless having In mind the very small showing on the statute bool; as a result of 12 weeks of legislative work. The Prime Minister has promised a statement or what legislation he proposes to int -oduce, and this should lie made this week so that members can have an idea of what is coming. The amerdment to the Industrie Conciliation and Arbitration Act must be nearly due, and the Government is expected o tackle the big question of oil resources as indicated recently. The order paper appears formidable and with those measures that are sure to be brought forward later in the session parli tmentarians are probable assured of being in their seats during the first week in November
