Trainers Busy in Canterbury

PROMISING YOUNGSTERS (Special to THE STJft.) . CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. With trotting events coming up for decision at country racing fixtures this month, and in view of the good trotting schedules arranged at various centres for next month, trainers here are getting busy on their charges and, generally speaking, things are merry and brisk among light-harness enthusiasts. The pacing gelding Mac Dillon is hitting out in his work as if the treatment accorded his legs tor unsoundness is a big success. Mac Dillon is a real horse, and one that will win races over two-mile journeys. A GOOD SORT The American trotter Trampcrisp looks a better horse for the spell he lias had, and is again striding along in pleasing style Logan Lou is making a remarkably good recovery from the nasty accident she had some time ago, but it is doubtful if she will be asked to race again. D Withers is tutoring a two-year-old i 'illy by Great Bingen from the Australian mare Lightnin'. She is a good type, but is net to be hurried in her preparation till late in the season. MAY APPEAR AT EPSOM Great Actress has been pretty busy lately. She has a lot of ability and all going well she will make a trip to Auckland in October. The American mare Dolores has developed a lot since she last visited a racecourse. If nothing happens she will make the town talk before the present i season is concluded. I Silk Thread is bright and happy ana ’ show s no signs of the fall he had at ; Auckland in June. ESCAPADE WELL A Butterfield has been engaged to ! drive Escapade in Urn. New Zealand

Trotting Cup. The mare is in perfect order and is doing everything required of her in a free and resolute style. The filly Nella Dillon is a contented customer that will require racing to get her into condition. She is a beautiful pacer and is a picture to look at. Maud Logan has been treated tp mixed essays. She has strengthened up since she last raced, and gives promise of turning out a good stake earner. G. F. Robinson is again trying to sweeten Harley Dillon with a view to persuading the speedy pacer to do his best in a race. GREAT OLD TROTTER Nighborn is an easy horse to work. He is full of pep and is keen to improve on anything he has yet accomplished, and the chances are that he will. H. Frost has a classy novice in his stable in a lilly by Logan Pointer from Becky M, whose dam was Miss Becky, the mother of Becky Logan. A real young trotter is in -work at New Brighton under D. Robertson. It is a filly by Sonoma Harvester from a mare by Rothschild. A SECOND KAWHAKI The New Brighton trainer A. G. Wilson has a second Kawhaki in his stable. The youngster is a two-year-old by Sonoma Harvester from Fatality, and in addition to good manners has speed to burn. There is every prospect of Nancy McKinney making a name for herself this season. The daughter of Nelson Bingen and Annie Bells McKinney is going to make a decent trotter. She is a half- sister to Peter McKinney and Audobell. The big racing gelding Cullinsville, a half-brother to Lord Bingen and Harley Dillon is in regular work at New Brighten. He is engaged at Ashburton and at Geraldine. The pacer Donald, by Logan Pointer from Dollar Princess, is a likely-looking novice. He is a member of F. Holmes’s establishment., and figures among the entries for Ashburton and Geraldine. ALL WELL WITH LOGANWOOD G. W 7. Dransfield has made another start on the gelding Loganwood. who is in capital buckle for summer contests.
