THE HAT TRICK

LIMERICK’S FEAT BRILLIANT MILE VICTORY COMMENDATION OUT OF FORM By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright SYDNEY, Sunday. The Rosehill spring meeting was held yesterday in cold wintry weather, interspersed with showers. The race track was not, however, seriously affected. New Zealand horses contested in several of the races. Asleep, who was greatly fancied for the Hurdle Race, made a bold bid for victory and ho was only beaten in the last few strides. Limerick maintained his reputation and in a great finish in the Hill Stakes earned an ovation from the spectators when he came away and won from Gothic. Amounis also made a great

run, but could not get on terms with the leaders. Limerick was not at all extended and showed he could have won without the slightest effort. The form displayed by the New Zealand gelding yesterday greatly impressed the spectators, and advanced him considerably in popular favour for events at the A.J.C. spring meeting. LIMERICK SUPER-CLASS The critic of the “Sun” says: “Limerick’s victory in the Hill Stakes made his title clear to the super-class as a racehorse, and nothing more brilliant or decisive than his victory could have been imagined. It looks as though nothing but the extra distance, rather than the weight, will defeat him in the Metropolitan Handicap, to be run at Randwick on October 3.” Following are the principal .results: HILL STAKES Of £750; weight-for-age, with penalty and allowance; 1 mile.
