SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS MEET
BUSINESS OF EXECUTIVE An executive meeting of the' South African War Veterans’ Association was held on Thursday evening in the Returned Soldiers’ Association’s rooms. In the absence, through illness, of the president, Colonel E. G. Fraser, the chair was taken by the vice-president, Captain Atwell. A resolution was carried congratulating Colonel Fraser on having been awarded the Officers’ Auxiliary Forces Medal, and also wishing him a speedy recovery from his illness. The secretary reported that the Auckland Rugby Union had forwarded a cheque for £lO as a contribution from their charity match toward the Associations benevolent fund. The action of the Rugby Union was greatly appreciated. Other important matters dealt with were the arranging for comforts for members who are in hospital, and urging the Government to assist members who are endeavouring to obtain homes.
A Missing Watch. —Charged with stealing a watch and chain, valued at £l2, Joseph McGovern, aged 56, appeared at the Police Court to-day and was remanded for a week*-
