SCHOOL CONCERT
CAPABLE YOUNG PERFORMERS A very successful concert was tendered by the native scholars of Queen Victoria College in the East Tamaki Public Hall on Wednesday night, the proceeds of which are to go toward the extinction of the Anglican parish mo-tor-car fund. One of the largest and most enthusiastic audiences yet seen in the district congregated to hear the native children in their songs and glees, and the hall was crowded past the doors. Mr. James Ross occupied the chair. The hall was very prettily decorated with multi-coloured streamers forming a canopy over the whole floor. In addition to the items by the inmates of the college, some of the local natives gave their best-, including Mare, Weri, Peri and Dan Te Rangi, Mare Mura and Rosie Kopu Waimata, and each young performer received a very enthusiastic reception. Canon Mason gave a humorous item, and thanked the girls for the splendid programme and intimated that the native boys would be along in October. At the conclusion of the concert the floor was cleared and dancing was indulged in till the early hours of the morning, to much-appreciated music by the Frolic Orchestra. Refreshments were supplied by the ladies of the pariah.
