London Wool Sales. —Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltcl., report having received the following cablegram from their London house dated the 16th inst.:—Wool: Sales continue active with brisk competition, tendency in favour of sellers as compared with closing rates of last series. Greasy Merino, combing, good, 5 per cent, higher. Merinos other descriptions unchanged. Bellies and pieces, demand keen, except pieces; short and faulty, irregular; greasy crossbred, fine, firm. Crossbred, medium, par to 5 per cent, higher. Greasy crossbred, coarse, 5 per cent, higher. Scoured crossbred, unchanged. English buyers principal operators.
Frozen Meat Prices. —Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house, dated September 15: Frozen meat: New Zealand prime Canterbury lamb, 281 b. to 361 b., 9Ad; North Island, 8 7-Sd; Canterbury, 361 b. to 421 b., BJd; North Island, Bsd: Canterbury, second quality, Bid; Canterbury, 421 b. to 501 b., B|d; North Island, Bd. The market for New Zealand lamb is firmer. The tendency is in favour of sellers owing to the unfavourable weather in Australia. The demand is improved by the change in prices. New Zealand prime Canterbury mutton, 481 b. to 5610% 6id; North Island, 5 7-8 d; Canterbury, 561 b. to 641 b., sld; North Island, sd; Canterbury, 641 b. to 721 b., sd; North Island, sd; Canterbury ewes, 481 b. to 641 b., 42d; North Island, 4Jd. The market for New Zealand mutton is unchanged. The demand runs principally on heavyweights. Beef: Argentine chilled hinds, 6£d; fores, 3d. Pork: English pork, 9§d; New Zealand porkers, 801 b. to 1001 b., 9d; 1001 b. to 1201 b., 8d; New Zealand baconers, 1201 b. to 1701 b., 6Xd; 1701 b. and over, 6d.
