BEETHOVEN

I I CENTENARY CONCERT AT TOWN HALL TO-NIGHT

BOHEMIAN ORCHESTRA

A programme, with one exception, comprised soledy of Beethoven and Wagner numbers, to be submitted by the Bohemian Orchestra at the Town Hall this evening, gives promise of excellent entertainment. The concert will mark Auckland’s contribution to the world-wide Beethoven centenary celebrations. The Beethoven section will include

the Fifth Symphony, the C Minor Concerto played by Mr. Cyril Towsey (piano), and orchestra, and “Minuet” for strings. Two vocal numbers, “The Praise of God” and “Alike at Morn and Eventide,” will be sung by Mrs. E. Mcßeath. Wagner will be represented by “The Meistersinger” overture, prelude to “Lohengrin.” the Grand March from “Tannha.user,” and “O Star of Eve,” from “Tannhauser.” the last-named being sung by Mr. Barry Coney. The St. Andrew’s Quartette will sing “Love is Meant to Make Us Glad,” by German. The orchestra will be under the direction of Mr. Colin Muston, with Miss Edith Whitelaw as leader. Mr. Cyril Towsey will provide the accompaniments. Such an impressive programme should not fail to draw a big “house.’
