TENNIS FOR STANLEY BAY

FUNDS BEING RAISED Tennis courts are to be formed on the reclaimed ground in Ngataringa Bay, known as the Stanley Bay Park. The. control of this reclaimed area has been given to the Ngataringa Tennis Club, which intends to lay down two chip courts immediately, in order to be ready for the coming season. More courts are to be added later on, when the surfaces will be finished in permanent material. This scheme is expected to cost at least £SOO. Of this sum, £l5O has been secured already by means of concerts. A further entertainment is to be held by the club in the Victoria Theatre, Devonport, on Tuesday, October 4. Local vocalists and sketch artists are being supported by visitors from the city. The Devonport Orphans’ Club orchestra will play during the evening.
