BENEFIT CONCERT
HELP AT ONEHUNGA There was an attendance of over 1,000 people at the Strand Theatre, Onehunga, yesterday evening, at an entertainment given in aid of a resident in need of friendly assistance. The theatre- was provided free of cost by Amusements, Ltd., and the Mayor and Mayoress were among those present. In a brief address, Mr. Coldicutt referred to the worthy object cf tho gathering. The programme presented was thoroughly enjoyed, and the secretary. 3Mr. F. Warrington, and the treasurer, Mr. G. Smith, are to be congratulated upon the results. It is anticipated that a substantial sum will be* cleared to assist the family concerned.
North Shore Sloldiers. —An ex-ser-vicemen’s club is to be formed on the North Shore. A preliminary meeting is to be held in the Devonport Borough Council Chambers to-morrow night, when Major A. H. Wilkie, of Takapuna, will explain the objects of the club.
