Butter Worth, presided. Tho opening ceremony was performed by Mr. D. Stewart Reid, M.P., who came from Wellington for the purpose. Mr. D. Williamson, an old settler of the district, said the first Presbyterian Church was established at Ohaupo 50 years ago, on the school hill, a fev/ hundred yards from the centre of the township. The site was bought and given by M.r. Samuel Fleming and, until 15 years ago. when the building was removed to another site, services were conducted there regularly. Recently rebuilding would have been necessary but the abandoned Waipa County Chambers were purchased by the committee. The building was now almost free of debt and was ready for occupation. Mr. Reid turned the key and when all present had entered the building a short divine service of dedication was held. Among those taking part in the service were the Revs. Butterworth, Te Awamutu. I. Hay, Cambridge, Rodgers, Hamilton, J. Burrows, clerk of the Waipa Presbytery, .and G. F. Cox, Pate ran gi, cf which charge Ohaupo is a part.
