PICTURE MAN ENTERS RIJA’S COTTAGE
GREAT FEAST GIVEN the prophet turns actor (Social to TBS SUN.) WHAKATANE, To-day. After ar arduous trip lasting five days through the wildest part of the Urewera country, Mr. Itudall Hayward, the pioneer motion picture producer, returned to Whakatane this morning with the first mo Jon pictures of the Maungapohutu mountain village and ot the “prophet” Rua with his many wives. A great feast and dance were given bv tho prophet in his honour. Rua sited before the camera, illustrating hit prophesies, and the entire population of the village took part in the final scenes of the “Te Kooti Trail,” including some of Te Kooti s original warriors. Many beautiful "shots” were secured of the sacred mountain of Maungaoohutu. which rises 7,600 feet, and ’tom the I,eights of which the dead urere cast Into a bottomless crater. On the return journey Mr. Hayward’s guide, Mr. T. Haris, was thrown from his horse as a result of the animal inking fright at one of the horse skeletons lying on the track. but fortunately the tumble was without rerious consequences.
