PROPOSALS BY COMPANY PREPARED TO HELP (From Our Own Correspondent) WAIHI, To-day. A conference of local body representatives me; the officials of the Waihi Gold Mining Company last night to consider in what direction the company was willftig to assist tribute workers in and around Waihi. Mr. Hopkins, act.ng superintendent of the Waihi Company, stated that his company was prepared to allow tr: - bute work in certain areas, and would also crush the ore and credit trlbuters with 90 per cent, of the contents, charging 5 per cent, in accordance with the provisions of the Mining Act. and 1 a ton for transfer, crushing, treatment, etc. The company was also willing t*-> lend tram rails and supply timber at cost price. It was decided that after tribute work commenced to apply to the Government for assistance. An effort wi 1 also be made to form a local tribute company.
