AYR STREET OUTLET
MOTORISTS DISSATISFIED COUNCIL REJECTS OFFERS The Council of the Auckland Automobile Association expressed dissatisfaction last evening with the condition of Ayr Street, Parnell. Members criticised sharp bends on the road and expressed the opinion that the outlet would not be safe for traffic unless improvements were carri€;d out. A letter was received from the City Council stating that the present alignment had existed since the road was formed, and promising to widen it as filling became available. A letter was received from Messrs. C. Aickin and Sons, stating that they had offered a section at the foot of Ayr Street for whatever sum the council was prepared to pay. This offer had not been accepted. Mr. G. Henning also offered a piece of land, but the council had refused both offers. Mr. F. (3. Farrell expressed the view that the council was evading the issue. It was decided to reply to the council expressing continued dissatisfaction with the state of the street.
