Trains For Peace Cup Match. —Train alterations in connection with the IPeaco Cup football match, Thames v. Hamilton, at Hamilton on Saturday next, are advertised in this issue by the Hail way Department. Parnell Resident Injured.—Mr. Frederick Thompson, of Ayr Street, Parnell, tvas admitted to the Auckland Hospital yesterday afternoon suffering: from slight head injuries. Mr. Thompson, who is 59 years old. is a married man. Enjoyable Dance.—The Holy Trinity Social Club neld a very enjoyable evening in the Otahuhu parish hall last evening, when over 100 couples occupied the floor. The music was supplied by Miss Moffitt and Messrs. C. Stewart, \V. Dennison, and J. T. White. Playground for Children. —On Cr. Brigham’s motion, the Mount Albert Borough Council last evening decided to endeavour to secure from the Health Department the now-disused Gladstone Road reservoir, tor conversion into a children's playground. Shipping Activities.—The aggregate gross tonnage cf ships entering the Waitemata Harbour in August was 3-3,346, a decrease of 19,290 tons on the same figures for last year. The Manukau Harbour figures were 16.271 gross tons, an increase; of 1,666 tons on August, 1926. Soldiers’ Smoke Concert.—The annual reunion and smoke concert of tho Second Field Company, New Zealand Engineers, N.Z.E.F.. will be held in the Tiffin tea-rooms to-morrow evening. a number of toasts will be honoured. and a varied programme of musical and vocal items will be contributed by members. League af Nations Union. —The League of Nations Union will hold its annual meeting in the Priscilla tearooms to-morrow at 7.45 p.m. A lantern lecture will be given by the Rev. G - Monekton, M.A., and the Rev. w - Mawson will speak on the recent conference of the Institute of Pacific Relations, at Honolulu.
