COASTAL MOVEMENTS— The Waimea, which* sailed from Auckland yesterday afternoon for Gisborne and Napier, returns here next Sunday. The Kaimanawa is to sail from here at 3 o’clock this afternoon for Westport., where she loads for Auckland syjain. The Kurow is expected to leave Bluff at 4 p.m. to-day, via Dunedin, Lyttelton,, and Wellington, for Auckland. She will now omit Picton on her way North. The Waipiata sails from Dunedin tomorrow, via Oarnaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Picton, for Auckland. The Kaitangata, if the weather moderates, will leave Gisborne to-night for Auckland, and after discharge here, will proceed to Greymouth, where she will load for Auckland iin place of the Waipori. The Katoa from Southern ports should arrive at Auckland to-morrow, and will pay off as th'e vessel will undergo her annual overhaul and survey at this port. The Lamb steamer Omana sailed from Auckland yesterday for Tauranga and Lyttelton to complete her discharge. Later the vessel returns to Auckland to load for Sydney. The Gunbar is expected to return to Auckland to-day week from East Coast ports and will sail the following day for Gisborne and Napier, via bays. The Westport Coal Company's collier Canopus sailed from Auckland last evening for Westport to load again. The Awahou sailed from here last evening for Tokomaru Bay, Tolago Bay and Gisborne, and returns to Auckland about Monday next. The Mako is to sail from Auckland today for Eaat Coast bays, Napier and Wairoa, and is due back here early next week. The Otimai was unable to complete her loading yesterday and now sails to-day for Kutarere and Opotiki. The Pono leaves here this afternoon for Mangapai, Parua Bay, One Tree Point and Waipu. ~ . _ , _ The Apanui, sailing at midnight for Great Barrier, returns to Auckland tomorrow night. . . . _ . „ The Rangitoto leaves Auckland at 3 p.m. to-day for Thames, and is due back here to-morrow afternoon. The Schouwen sails from Wellington tomorrow for Lyttelton, Dunedin and Australia to put out the remainder of her Montreal cargo. The Somerset leaves Wellington tomorrow for Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff to complete her discharge of Liverpool cargo. The Tainui now sails from Port Chalmers to-morrow for Lyttelton to land the balance of her London cargo and to continue her loading for Home. The West Islip should get away from Wellington to-morrow for Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff and New Plymouth.
The Westmoreland berthed at Port Chalmers yesterday afternoon and completes her discharge of Liverpool cargo there, and commences her loading for her return voyage.
CITY OF BATAVIA.—A radio message received by fhe New Zealand: ShippingCompany' states that the A. and A. Line's chartered steamer City of Batavia is expected to arrive at Auckland to-morrow afternoon from New York.
KENT RADIOS.—The New Zealand Shipping Company have received further radio advice stating that the Federal steamer Kent is now expected to arrive at the pilot ground af 5.30 a.m. tomorrow from Liverpool. The vessel should arrive in the stream at Auckland about INTERCOLONIAL SERVICE. The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the Maheno on arrival at Wellington on November S from Sydney will be withdrawn from the Intercolonial service and the Maunganui will replace the Maheno, sailing from Wellington on November 11 for Sydeny. PORT HUNTER TO COMPLETE.— TlieC. and D. Line’s Port Hunter sailed from 'Wellington last night for Napier. Gisborne and Auckland to complete her loading for Home. The vessel is due here next Monday and the agents, Heather, Roberton and Company, expect to dispatch the Port Hunter finalyl from Auckland on September 22 for London via Cape Horn. NEW FERRIES NAMED.—ManIy and Brookvale are the names selected for the two new ferries building at Old Kilpatrick for the Port Jackson and Manly Steamship Company. They are expected to be in commission by the end of the year, and probably will replace the Bingarra and Kuringgal. A speed of 13J knots will enable them to make the journey from Circular Quay to Manly in 25 minutes, being five minutes faster than the present steamers. HINEMOA RETURNS.—From a periodical visit to Niue Island the Government steamer Hinemoa returned to Auckland yesterday afternoon and berthed after pratique was granted at the Queen’s Wharf. Stormy weather was experienced both to the Islands and back to Auckland. Besides cargo and mails the Hinemoa brought the following passengers:— Mrs. E. B. Vaile, Miss Heard and Mr. Clark. At 10 a.m. to-morrow the agents, Spedding Limited, are dispatching the vessel to Norfolk Island. SUSSEX FROM CALCUTTA. —The Federal steamer Sussex, which is chartered by the Union Company, arrived at Auckland yesterday from Calcutta via Penang, Singapore, and Samarang, and, after pratique was granted, berthed at the Prince’s Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo. The Sussex sailed from Calcutta on August 9 and experienced a fair-weather passage to New Zealand. She brought the following passengers:—Captain and Mrs. J. Brookes and three children and Dr. Faulkner. Captain J. F. S. Brown is in command, and the following are the officers: —Chief, Mr. C. Burgess; second, Mr. E. J. Deed; third, Mr. F. H. Clarke; chief engineer, Mr. A. McDonald; second, Mr. W. Scott; third, Mr. A. Fell; fourth, Mr. G. Bell; fifth, Mr. L. Cocks; sixth, Mr. W. McLaren; wireless operator, Mr. F. Logan; chief steward, Mr. C. Brown. The Sussex is expected to leave Auckland at 5 p.m. to-morrow for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff to complete discharge. PORT OF ONEHUNGA—ARRIVAL TO-DAY RARAWA (7 a.m.), 1,077 tons, Bark, from New Plymouth. The Rarawa, wnich arrived at Onehunga this morning is scheduled to sail again to-morrow afternoon at 3 o’clock on the return to New Plymouth. The Arapawa is expected to arrive at Onehunga to-morrow morning from Raglan, Kawhia and Port Waikato, and will leave later the same day for Hokianga. The Hauturu is to leave Auckland at two o’clock this afternon for Onehunga to take up the Ngatiawa’s run in the Onehunga-Raglan, Kawhia and Port Waikato trade.
