PROTECTING WOMEN AND CHILDREN
PLEA FOR MORE SUPPORT Of the 38 new cases dealt with by the New Zealand Society for the Protection of Women and Children last month, 17 concerned husbands and wives, four affiliation cases, 11 childrem and six miscellaneous. These figures were mentioned at the monthly meeting of the society. The Kev. P. S. Smallfield presided. A vote of sympathy was accorded Mr. A. J. Stratford, president, on the recent death of his wife, who had been an energetic worker on both the Ladies’ Committee and Executive Committee. The inspector reported that she had attended 39 cases, involving 131 visits and interviews. It was reported that the subscriptions had decreased lately, and the hope was expressed that the public would give more support.
