p E RSO N AL .—Captain T. V Hill, of: Uve Marama. is taking command of the Niagara, vice Captain A. C. Showman, who*has been granted holiday leave. Captain A. H. Davey, of the Maheno, is to take command of the Marama.

TAHITI FOR SAN FRANCISCO.—In continuation of her, voyage from Sydney the Union Company s H.M.S. Tahiti is to sail from Wellington at 3 o clock this afternoon for San Francisco via Rarotonga and Papeete.

KARTIGI FOR ADELAIDE. —To load for Adelaide the Union Company advises that the cargo steamer Kartigi returns to Auckland on Thursday from Portland, and is expected to sail the same day via Wellington and Lyttelton. ANTONIO COMING. —Henderson and Macfarlane have been advised that the tramp steamer Antonio is to load at Nauru Island for New Plymouth and Wanganui, and is expetced to leave the island on October 5. ULIMAROA AT SYDN EY.— Cable advice received by the local office of Huddart, Parker and Company states that the passenger steamer Ulimaroa arrived at Sydney at 6 o’clock this morning from Auckland and leaves at noon on Friday for Wellington.

MAHENO DUE AT WELLINGTON.— Having cleared Sydney last Saturday morning for Wellington, the Union Company expects the passenger steamer Maheno to arriive there to-morrow morning. She is to leave Wellington at noon on Friday on her return trip to Sydney, thus resuming her ordinary timetable.

HINELMOA DUE. —A further radio message received by Spedding, Limited, states that the Government steamer Hinemoa is expected to arrive at Auckland at 3 o’clock this afternoon for Niue Island. She is to berth at the Central Wharf and is scheduled to leave here at 10 a.m. on Thursday for Norfolk Island. PERSIAN PRINCE ARRIVING.—En route from Nauru Island to Lyttelton, the tramp steamer Persian Prince is arriving at Auckland early to-morrow morning. According to a radio message received by Henderson and Macfarlane, the master advises that the vessel is running short of coal and will call here to replenish her bunkers.

RUAPEHU LEAVES SOUTHAMPTON.—The New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the Ruapehu, en route from London, cleared Southampton for New Zealand last Saturday afternoon. The vessel is due at Wellington on October 18 to unload passengers and mails. The general cargo will be unloaded at Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, and Bluff. SUSSEX FROM CALCUTTA.— ShortIy after 1 o’clock this afternoon the Federal steamer Sussex, which is under charter to the Union Company, arrived at Auckland from Calcutta via Penang, Singapore and Samarang. The vessel is expected to berth about 2.30 p.m. at the Prince’s Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo. She is to leave here next Thursday for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff to complete her discharge.

NOBEL’S SAILING VESSELS.— The Nobel a.uxiliary schooner Piri is due at Westport to-morrow with explosives from Melbourne. The cargo will be unloaded at Westport, Greymouth and Auckland.

The auxiliary schooner Huia is en route from Melbourne to Adelaide with explosives. After discharge the vessel will return to Melbourne to load explosives for Queensland.

The auxiliary ketch Miro, now at Paeroa, will return to Auckland to load explosives for Tauranga, Gisborne and Napier.

GOLDEN SEA ARRIVI NG.— From Port Arthur, Texas, the tramp steamer Golden Sea is due at Auckland this afternoon and will berth at the Western Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo under the auspices Qf the New Zealand Shipping Company. The vessel is expected to leave here on Thursday for Wellington and Australian ports to complete her discharge. CITY OF BATAVIA REPORTS.—A radio message received by the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer City of Batavia is expected to arrive at Auckland on Thursday afternoon from New York. The vessel is bringing case oil and general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Tasmanian ports.

KENT FROM LIVERPOOL.-The New Zealand Shipping Company have been advised by radio that the Federal steamer Kent is due at Auckland at 6 p.m. to-morrow from Liverpool. The Kent has cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth.

RUAHINE SAILS SATURDAY.-Now at Auckland completing her loading for Home, the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the liner Ruahine is to leave here at 7 a.m. next Saturday for Southampton and London via Pitcairn Island and Panama.

PORT CAROLINE DUE THURSDAY. —The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company advises that the C. Line’s steamer Port Caroline leaves New Plymouth to-night for Auckland and Wellington to complete her loading. She is due here on Thursday and is scheduled to leave Wellington finally on September 20 for London via Cape Horn.

PORT HUNTER TO COMPLETE. — The C. and D. Line’s steamer Port Hunter was to leave Wellington early this morning for Napier, Gisborne and Auckland to complete her loading for Home. She is due here next Saturday and the agents, Heather, Roberton and Company, expect to dispatch the vessel finally from Auckland on September 20 for Lon 7 don via Cape Horn.

ANTI NOUS SAlLlNG. —Henderson and Macfarlanc*. advise that the tramp steamer Antinous leaves Auckland next Tuesday for Westport for bunkers, thence Makatea Island, where she will load phosphates for Landslcrona, Sweden.

HARPALYCE FOR NAURU ISLAND. Now discharging phosphates at Wanganui, Henderson and Macfarlane advise that the steamer Harpalyce leaves tomorrow for "Westport for bunkers, thence Nauru Island to load again for New Zealand or Australia. The vessel is expected to clear Westport next Saturdaj.

TREWORLAS FROM NEW YORK. The A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer Treworlas, which arrived in the stream at Auckland shortly after 1 p.m. *J. es «sF i “ day from New York via Tonga and Fiji, berthed later in the afternoon at the Queen’s Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company. On this voyage the vessel loaded her cargo at New York and Newport News. The former port was cleared on July -5 and the latter port two days later. Colon was reached on August 4 and the Treworlas sailed from Panama the same day. On August 30 the vessel arrived at Levuka and discharged a quantity of cargo, after which she called at Suva to unload further cargo. The Fijian port was cleared last Wednesday and the Treworlas arrived as above. Throughout the voyage the vessel experienced fair weather. About 500 miles from Panama in the Pacific Mr. W. Morgan, the chief steward, was lost overboard and drowned. His body was not recovered. Captain R. Harvey is in command, and the following are the officers:—Chief, Mr. H. Edwards; second officer, Mr. W. Agnew; third, Mr. W. Denyer; chief engineer, Mr. W. Herbert; second, Mr. W. Richards; third, Mr. R. Tipson; fourth, Mr. W. Oxenham; wireless operator, Mr. V. Oastler.

MIDDLESEX’S VOYAGE. Shortly after 8 o’clock last Saturday morning, the Federal steamer Middlesex, under the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company, arrived in the stream at Wellington from London after a smart passage of 35 days. The Middlesex left London on August 5, and ran into heavy weather, which lasted for a few days. Fine weather was then experienced till the vessel’s arrival at Colon at midnight on August 19. Colon was left at midnight on August 20, and fine weather experienced for the remainder of the voyage. Five Egyptian cadets, who are receiving training in seamanship, to enable them to take charge of King Fuad of Egypt’s yacht, are on board. Captain A. B. Mcßae is in command of the Middlesex, and has associated with him the following officers:—Chief, Mr. W. Wilson; second, Mr. R. J. Reece; third, Mr. A. V. Pearce; fourth, Mr. C. W. Roberts; chief engineer, Mr. G. Salter; second, Mr. G. Cairns; third, Mr. J. Preston; fourth, Mr. H. Watson; fifth, Mr. W. Cook; sixth, Mr. J. Kirk; chief refrigerating engineer, Mr. H. Grantham; second, Mr. D. McCallum; wireless operator, .Mr. H. Kennedy; chief steward, Mr. W. Collier.

The Middlesex is to leave Wellington on Thursday afternoon for Auckland to complete discharge.

MAR AM A ARRIVES.— After a good fair weather passage from Sydney, the Union Company’s passenger steamer Marama arrived in the stream at Auckland at 9 o’clock this morning and berthed shortly after 10 a.m. at the Central Wharf. The vessel sailed from the New South Wales port at 4 p.m. last Friday.

NIAGARA SAILING. —The Union Company’s Royal Mail steamer Niagara. which arrived at Auckland at noon yesterday from Vancouver is to sail at three o’clock this afternoon for Sydney.
