Billie Dove, the beautiful and talented First National star, has the principal role in “The Tender Hour.” with Ben Lyon. This production is a lavishly conceived and intensely dramatic and emotional vehicle for this well-cast pair. Some of the settings are luxurious in the extreme, notably the replica of the famous French cabaret, Maximes, and the spectacular pageant scenes, wherein are featured Roman soldiers, Egyptian dancing girls, Nubian slaves, and a ruthless centurion. The plot is a fine one, with a tense succession of incidents, anc! the heroine, Miss Dove, portrays the role of a beautiful American girl, who is married off to a rogue of a Russian duke by her rich father, for the sake of the title and money.
