TAUMARUNUI HOSPITAL
MEETING OF BOARD Owing to the serious illness of the chairman, Mr. F. H. Sims, the last meeting of the Taumarunui Hospital Board was presided over by Mr. R. F. Beau train. On the motion of the act-ing-chairman, it was resolved to send a letter of sympathy to Mr. Sims and family, expressing the hope that he would scon be restored to health. In connection with the proposal to erect a wall tablet at the hospital, the Director-General of Health, Dr. Valinr.ine, wrote that he agreed with the proposal, but considered the time inopportune for incurring any other than absolutely necessary expenditure, and suggested that the board bring up the matter again in a year’s time, when he might be in a position to approve of the expenditure for the tablet. Dr. Valin tine also wrote to the effect that a private donation given for the purchase of a gramophone for the maternity hospital could not carry a subsidy. Mr. Johnson moved, and Mr. Craig seconded, that the donor be
asked if he would make his donation unconditionally. H. Jonasson’s tender of £B6 3s for the installation of the Bryant silent electric call system at the hospital was accepted. It was decided to accept Mr. Jonasson’s offer of £6 for the batteries at the old hospital, and 10s each for any ,32-vo".t lamps with them.
