The guests crowded round Mrs. Stillman and congratulated her on her marksmanship. “It was necessary,” she panted, looking ruefully at the wreckage of china and glassware. Then proudly she invited her guests in French to “come and have some food.” The alfresco fete continued far into the night, when it was broken up by a thunderstorm.
