FUNERAL OF REV. W. READY
Prior to the funeral of the Rev W Ready yesterday a glowing- tribute was paid to his memory at a service in the Pitt Street Methodist Church. The attendance was large; and included representatives of several Auckland ch urches Tiie Rev. G. Bond, of Epsom, gave an outline of Mr. Ready’s career, and said that, since his arrival in New had been a household word in many New Zealand homes, Methodist and others. In 188 7 when he first met Mr. Ready said Mr, Bond, he had recognised his unusual personality, his courage and optimism. Throughout New Zealand for 41 years Mr. Ready’s ministry was conspicuous. A manly man in all his dealings, he had been a friend and helper to all. The funeral, which left for Purewa Cemetery after the service, was followed by a large number of cars. The Rev. H. Ryan, of Remuera, conducted the service at the graveside and was assisted by the Rev. E. Drake, of Epsom. The Rev. T. E. Olds, and Messrs. J. R. Fow, A. D. Whitehead, C. Payne, F. B. Houghton and H. Fow were the pall-bearers.
