EMPIRE

“TELL IT TO THE MARINES” Filming a picture under the roaring muzzles of great rifles on battleships during combat manoeuvres was the nerve-racking experience of Ira Morgan, cameraman, when he obtained some of the most unusual pictures ever filmed, incidental to “Tell It to the Marines,” Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s spectacular drama of the Marine Corps. Morgan lashed his camera under the gun turrets and filmed the forced battle practice for the picture; he was almost a nervous wreck for some days afterward, but probably set a new record for all time in screen photography. The new picture, which comes to-night to the Empire Theatre, features Lon Chaney, William Haines, Eleanor Boardman, Carmel Myers and a notable cast.

On the same programme Monte Blue is featured in the Master Picture, “The Man Upstairs.”
