VISIT FROM BISHOP Bishop Cherrington will conduct a communion service at St. Paul’s, Huntly, on Sunday morning. This will be the first visit of his Lordship on church matters, and be is assured of a hearty welcome. The; boxing competitions to be held at Glen Afton next month are evoking no end of interest, and several would-be scalp-hunters; are in training for the various events. The veteran. Jim Mitchell, will be judge, and a feature of the evening will be the junior events for school boys and pit boys from the mines. The carnival is still going strong, and the three queens are hard at work in friendly rivalry to secure the coveted honour. The actual conclusion of the carnival will be on September 20. At the present time Miss Florrie Brook is leading by a slight margin from Miss Daphne Sheeran, with Miss Nellie Smith a close third.
