SLEEVES TOO LONG FOR THE ARM
CHANCE FOR THE HOME DRESSMAKER Sleeves cut a good many inches too long for the arm and then ruckled up “to fit” are the newest vagary in arm fashions. Among the extremes in dress at the moment is the cult of either no sleeves at all or sleeves which are too long. Usually with the latter their length is accentuated by making the sleeve of different material from that used for the jumper or dress. A green silk frock of plain material had sleeves of green, and black spotted silk, the sleeves being cut very much too long for the arms, then ruched up and held in position by tight-fitting buttoned cuffs, the buttons being little hanging balls of jade-like substance. Rather more bizarre was a black crepe de chine frock with similar very long sleeves of bright red georgette, but in this case the sleeves were gathered up on the under-seam to the length of the arm, the outside hanging over in a deep sort of elongated puff. An advantage of the new fashion is that the home dressmaker who “goes wrong” in cutting her new frock and allows too many inches on her sleeves need no longer re-cut tfie latter; she can just follow the fashion.
