FAT CATTLE ADVANCED Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. Sheep entries at the Addington yards yards to-day were fairly heavy, but fat cattle and fat pigs were in short supplv. Fat sheep sold at easier values, but fat cattle recorded a pronounced rise. Store Sheep.—A good-sized entry of hoggets sold particularly well and wethers also showed an advance. Ewes and lambs sold well but aged ewes in lamb were hard to quit. Halfbred ewe hoggets realised 29s 6d to 31s 4d: cull and inferior halfbred ewe hoggets, 24s to 26s 3d; crossbred ewe hoggets, 33s 9d; crossbred wether hoggets, 21s to 22s lOd; inferior crossbred wether hoggets. 17s lOd to ISs lOd; forward four and sixtooth halfbred wethers;, 33s 6d to 36s 4d: four and six-toothed halfbred wethers, 28s to 31s; inferior four and six-tooth halfbred wethers, 26s to 275; soundmouthed crossbred ewes and lambs, 15s 4cT. (all counted); ag’ed crossbred ewes, with good lambs, L6s 9d (all counted): failing-mouthed hafbred ewes in lamb. 24s to 27s 3d; aged halfbred ewes in lamb, 13s to 20s; sound-mouthed crossbred ewes, 28s 9d.

Fat Sheep.—A slacker market than last week by Is 6d to 2s 6d a head for big sheep. Outside entries included Southland and West Coast sheep. Extra prime heavy wethers made 49s to 595; prime wethers, 42s 6d to 475; medium wethers, 34s to 41s; light wethers, 31s to 33s 6d; extra prim?, ewes, 3Ss to 4Ss 10d; prime ewes, 33s 6d to 36s 6d; medium ewes. 28s to 335; light ewes. 22s to 27s 6d; prime hoggets, 34s to 40s 4d; medium hoggets, 25s to 335. Fat Cattle.—The smallest entry of the year, comprising 360 head, following on two small pennings. The market showed an advance of from 35s to £2 10s a head. Specially good beef made to 4Ss per 1001 b; prime, 43s 6d to 475; medium, 40s to 435; inferior, 36s to 395; rough, down to 30s. There were ro Xorth Island lines forward, but good drafts came forward from South Canterbury , South Otago and Southland. Show bullocks, £25 7s 6d; extra heavy prime steers, £2O to £23; prime heavy steers, £l7 to £l9 15s: medium steers, £l4 to £l6: light steers, £lO 10s to £l3 10s: extra, prime heifers to £ls 17s 6d; prime heifers, £l3 To £ls 10s; medium- heifers. £lO to £l2 10s; light heifers, £7 10s to £9 15s; extra prime cows to £l7 2s 6d; prime cows, £l3 to £ls 10s; medium cows, £9 10s to £l2 ss; light cows, £7 to £9; aged cows, £5 to £6 10s. Spring Lambs.--A few of these were forward and sold at from 33s to 475. Vealers.—A rubbishy showing. Good sorts sold well. Best vealers made £3 to £6: medium, £3 to £4 15s. Calves realised 10s to £2 ss. Dairy Cattle.—A poor quality' and easier in values. Best second to fourth calvers made £7 10s to £9 10s; medium, £5 10s to £7: inferior, £3 to £5; heifers, £3 10s to £6; old cows in profit, £2 15s to £ 4 ss. Store Cattle.—A large entry of mostly old cows, but including several pens of 18-months heifers and steers. All fairlyconditioned sorts sold at an advance. Good cows realised £3 15s to £5: old cows, £1 to £2; 13-months heifers to £3 17s 6d; others, 30s to 455; bulls, £3 to £7 10s. Fat Pigs.—A small entry. The market improved as sale progressed. Choppers made £3 10s to £5 6s; baconers, £3 Ms to £5; average price per lb, 6.V1 to 7d; light porkers, 43s to 475; heavy porkers, 52s to 625; average price per lb, 7d to 9d. Store Pigs.—A full entry and a good sale. Weaners made to 24s 6d; slips, 22s to 28s; stores. 28s 6d to 325; young sows in pig, to £5 ss.
