AMATEUR OPERATIC SOCIETY
“LA MASCOTTE’’ For pure side-splitting comedy there are feu- comic operas that are equal to "i.a Mascotte.” The whole of the delightful story is brimful of humour and it is said that Mr. O. C. Lyttelton and Mr. J3an Flood lose themselves in the unbounded wealth of truly witty dialogue allotted to them, laven the love-makers, without whom no comic opera would be complete, come in for their share, with the result that "La Mascotte" is probably the most humorous production yet staged by the Auckland Amateur Operatic .Society. The music is very cleverly interwoven and suits the other principals and the chorus admirably. In addition to the chorus movement aiul musica numbers in which it lias been well drilled under the direction of Mr. Iteginald Long and the baton ~f Mr. Colin Muston, L.R.A.M., two or three specialty dances by a select ballot with Miss Bettina JCdwards as premiere danseuse are an integral part „f the scheme of La Mascotte" and these wit i appropriate music ami song should bo a delight to behold. In fact, it is confidently expected that tha combined effect of "La Mascotte" will bo a worthy example of wliat talent, esprit de carp and unlimited energy can produce. Tht» season is unfortunately short, commencing on Saturday, the 17th inst. Booking wil open on Monday, the 12th inst., and patrons are advised to take this opportunity without delay.
