Cr. Browne, of the Stanley* Bay Improvement Association, which has developed the park project, said his association had endorsed the scheme but lie thought ar outside opinio | Hhoull be obtained. He considered that the drainage proposals would rerioiialy reduce the already limited area of the park and that big canals with over two feet of water in them would be dangerous to children and a nuisance to those haying cricket or football. He thought, also, that the retaining wall might be endangered. Tho engineer explained his scheme in deiail, after which Cr. Ellisdon remarked: “I am as wise- now as when we started.”
Mr. F. E. Powell, C.E., is to be invited to report on the scheme, ard on Cr. Browne’s suggestion the spending of £3,000 on draining might be clanged to the expenditure of the same amount on further filling in of the area.
