OUTBURST AGAINST JUDGE
COURT “GROSSLY INSULTED"* There was a heated scene at Trowbridge County Court recently after Judge Gwynne James had fo.ind against Miss Flora Slade, of Bradford - on-Avon, in an ejectment case. Miss Slade, the plaintiff declared: “I have been treated unjustly md wickedly.” Judge: “Stand back.” Miss Slade: “You have treated me abominably. Do: t try me too lar. I know you. Judge Gwynne James.” The Judge (leaving the court): “Madam, you will remain until my return, and I shall have something to say to you. I am going to give yea a few minutes to reco’ fr your temper.” On his return the judge said: “You have grossly insulted the court, and I have powers to send you to prison and fine you. If you ere willing to epclogise, I shal 1 take another course.” Miss Slade having apologised, tho judge said, “I accept that. I h ive never had anybody so rude to me in a court of justice. I can only imagine you lost your head.” Miss Slade ‘Can I appeal?** Judge; ’Leave the court.’*
