SULPHATE OF IRON AS A FERTILISER
Sir, — Sulphate of irJ 3, has been considered for many years quite a. useful addition to soi s for the purpose of helping to control fungoid diseases In plants grown on soils to which it is applied. I have used it with good results on tomatos where the crop was usually affected with black spot and Other fungoid diseases. Orchardists use sulphate of iron as a fertiliser on Citrus trees, part, cularly in lemon orchards where it is regularly applied to lemon trees. From experiments carried out by the Department of Agriculture at Mamaka Experimental Fa.-m, sulphate of iron , s , be ? n ? rj und to assist the control of oush sickness when it is applied as a fertiliser dressing to grasslands.
