A WELCOME-HOME PARTY
On Wednesday evening Mr. and Mrs. S. Cosgrave gave a most • enjoyable party in the parish hall, Papakura, as a “welcome home” to their daughter, Joy, and her cousin, Miss M. Schischka, who have been spending a long holiday in Australia. The decorations looked very effective. Round the centre of the hall overhead a circle was formed of red, blue and yellow-shaded lights from which streamers of the same colour were taken to the sides of the hall. The stage looked very pretty with large branches of magnolia blossoms on one side and on the other small tables were placed, holding bowls of freesias and violets. Flag bridge was played during the first part of the evening and resulted in a win for Mrs. Francis, Miss M. Schischka, and Mr. Cosgrave, who managed to secure 21 flags for their table. The consolation prizes went to Miss Clare Wood, Mr. Otway and Mr. Parkinson. Supper was served in cabaret fashion, the guests remaining at their own tables. The last part of the evening was taken up with dancing, which was made most enjoyable by the excellent music played by Messrs. Hardman and Walker. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. S. Cosgrave. Mrs. Schischka, Or. and Mrs. J. B. Page, Mrs. Brown, Epsom, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. O’Connell. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Pavitt, Or. and Mrs. O. Mcßae. Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Rice, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. J.
