SUCCESSFUL BROADCAST
SYDNEY TO THE EMPIRE A CLEAR RECEPTION (British Official Wireless. — Copyright) Reed. 11.29 a.m. RUGBY., Nlonday. Remarkable success attended the first wireless broadcast from Australia to the Umpire, which took place yesterday from the Sydney station 2FC on short waves. The broadcast was received at the British Broadcasting Corporation’s experimental station and relayed throughout the country. Short addresses were given by the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth, Mr. Stanley Bruce, and the Prime Minister and Governor of New South Wales, among others, and these, together with a concert, were clearly heard, despite the distance of 10,000 miles. English listeners heard the clock strike in Sydney nine hours ahead of their own time. To-morrow the British Broadcasting Corporation will attempt to relay a programme from Melbourne. —A. and N.Z.
