Audacious Theft From Coal-Yard
TRUCK FOR LOOT CAPTURE AT TAKAPUNA Patrick Thomas Syron, aged 27, drove a one-ton truck to the coai and firewood yard of W. and H. Smale, Takapuna, at 5.30 this morning. He took one sack of coal on board, but the removal of a second was interrupted by a constable. At the Police Court to-day Syron pleaded guilty to five charges of stealing bags of firewood, coke, and coal, valued at £2 ISs. Sub-Inspector Lewin said that coalyard had been raided lately, and following an all-night watch Syron was arrested this morning. He had been selling wood in Takapuna. Accused was remanded to appear on Friday for sentence.
