MEMORIES OF SAMOA
EXPEDITIONARY FORCE REUNION
Over ninety members of the Samoan Ex-servicemen’s Association assembled together on Saturday evening to celebrate the 13th anniversay of the landing at Samoa on August 29, 1914. It was one of the finest meetings the association has had since its inauguration. Memories were revived among the men who were the first to take part in a New Zealand expedition of the Great War. Representative ex-service women were also present. Among the guests was the Hon. O. b . Nelson, M.L.C., who is an honorary member of the association, and a resident of Samoa. Major Simeon presided over the enthusiastic gathering. During the evening a presentation was made to Mr. D. Craig Cresser as an appreciation of his services as secretary to the associa-
tion. _ - _ An excellent programme of songs and musical numbers was contributed during the evening. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: —President, Major G. E. Simeon; vice-presidents, Captain W. Lind Mitchell and R.S.M. C. Harris; treasurer, Captain J. B. Neely; secretary. Mr. Leo. Marshall; committee, Messrs. A. C. Isbister, C. H. Teague, B. J. Hannah, L. Campbell, R. Pountney, G. H. Forsythe, A. A. Beagles, J. Muli cahev, N. L. Higginson, J. D. Swan and ! D. Craig Cresser. Major W. Kay commanded the 248 I Aucklanders who left with the original j Samoan force. Though the years have passed there is still a wonderful spirit of comradeship among the men. This is proved by the large membership of the association.
