“This work of William Hunter’s is {he most illuminating thing that has happened in general medicine in the -Oth century,” said Sir Berkeley MoyJihan at the meeting of the British Medical Association at Edinburgh. He was referring to Dr. William Hunter, consulting physician to the London Fever Hospital and the Cliartng Cross Hospital, who gave remarkable instances of the cure of nervous and mental disorders by removing decayed teeth. Quoting a case recorded in New \> or -- r * Hunter said a single woman y 55 had mental trouble after the death of her mother. When admitted tnto hospital in 1916 her upper teetl nJi 6 m t ss ing and her lower teeth were oadly decayed. Nothing was done nowever, and she was in the chronic Ward for nearly two years. Then 11 bad teeth were extracted and she improved rapidly. After twe ntonths she was discharged as recovand had remained perfectly wel * v er since.
